Very few rappers can get away with stocking their mixtapes with singles. Meek Mill is one of them. While most MCs lock away any surefire radio killers until their promo is prepped and the album is ready to roll out, MMG’s underboss saw his career skyrocket by front-loading his critically-acclaimed Dreamchasers tape with hits like “Ima Boss” and “House Party.”
That said, it should surprise no one that the first leak from Meek’s second installment of the series could very well be blasting out of your FM dial by week’s end. Built on the same bare-bones formula that Drake’s “Motto” succeeded with, “I’m Rollin” is the type of song that gets all the cool kids out of their seats at the club, to immediately flood the dance floor with spilled Long Islands and overall freakiness. When that’s the case, nothing else matters. Not the fact that the release is free, or that there are only five elements to this DJ Mustard production. If you give the people what they want, everything else falls into place.
